We Will Win Sometime!

we-will-win-sometime
we-will-win-sometime
we-will-win-sometime

We Will Win Sometime!

At the end of every rainbow
There is a pot of Gold
At least that is what I always heard
And what I have always been told

But rainbows are not tangible
Or something you can hold
And searching for the end of them
Has always left me cold

So we entered every contest
And we filled in every line
We even purchased Subscriptions
And other things from time to time

Lady luck don't smile on us
She does not have the time
We haven't won one red cent or one thin dime
And the way we lose you would think
That winning is a crime!

I don't think anyone in this country is going to be winning anything anytime soon. Especially if Putin throws the election to Trump again, and since Trump is a dream come true for him, why wouldn't he reinstall Trump?

If Trump wins I think we can say good-bye to the shreds that are left of our democracy. Posting this to AH & FB.

Blessings, dear friend. Stay safe . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on July 23, 2019:

Seems like only the 1 per centers are winning anything nowadays. Just read that over 3 million people are going to have their food stamps taken away in a couple of months from now. That's in the new debt ceiling budget agreement that just passed (I'm told).

Posting this to FB and AH.

Hope all is well with you dear friend. Blessings to you always . . .

But lady luck is my friend. She was so sweet last night.

With pocket AA there is no need for fright.

Just go ALL IN and that will end the fight.

Thank you Anita, for the comments, yes we do have to have fun while trying to win big.

Sounds like a super game. We have to have a little fun sometimes and a chance of winning big.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on August 30, 2017:

Anita, thank you for the comment. I play Texas Hold-em even if I lose, because I love the game. We have a lot of fun and cost very little, Although I have played in a couple of high-steak games.

Blessings my friend.

Anita Hasch from Port Elizabeth on August 29, 2017:

Hi Shyron, I love your poem. I myself play the lotto once a month. Have only won very small amounts. Casino's I stay away from as I believe even if you win you will lose many times that amount while you try to win again. Maybe I'm wrong but I have heard of too many people that get addicted to it, just like drink. You are right most people lose more than they put in. But then you have to try occasionally you may just get lucky.

C E Clark from North Texas on August 23, 2017:

Revisiting your excellent poem. It doesn't seem like as many people are winning as was once the case. Although with Trump in office we have been winning like crazy, as he promised. Is anyone tired of winning yet?

Hope you and John and Chipper have been managing the heat OK this summer. We are to have mid to upper 80s for the rest of this month which is a bit of a reprieve, so enjoy. Summer was so late arriving that I fear it may last until January to make up for that late arrival. Blessings dear friend, take care . . .

Patricia, I don't know how I missed your comment, I thank you and appreciate you for that.

Speaking of contest, I did win a real live snake for the Coors Brewing Company and did not even know that I had entered a contest.

The Angels are on their way back to you with lots of Blessings and Hugs.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on July 01, 2016:

Shauna, thank you so very much for the comment, I am so pleased that it gave you a chuckle and glad you won the Stones albums, I like the Beatles, but I like the Stones more, I also like Friday the 13th.

Thank you again, Blessings and Hugs my dear friend

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on June 27, 2016:

I got a chuckle out of the last line, Shyron. I think the only thing I ever won was back in 1971. The local radio station had a contest and gave away all the Stones or Beatles albums each hour to whatever number caller they deemed. They alternated between the Stones and Beatles each hour. I was trying for the Beatles, but ended up winning all the Stones albums. Best part is, it was Friday the 13th!

Patricia Scott from North Central Florida on June 18, 2016:

And like rainbows there is much, as you know, that we 'win' that is not contest related...think of all of the hearts you have won with your writing....

More Angels are headed your way this afternoon , Shyron

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on June 04, 2016:

Paula, thank you, thank you, and amen LOL... I should have put that song on here, no not the one "If it weren't for bad luck", but Marvin Rainwater's - "So You Think You've Got Trouble".

Blessings and hugs dear friend.

Suzie from Carson City on June 04, 2016:

Shyron.....This one rang loud & clear with me!! I always say that the old song from "Hee-Haw," is my theme song, "If I didn't have BAD luck, I'd have no luck at all!" LOL.....Love your poem!

Flourish, thank you so very much for the comment. I like to do the scratch off and always wonder does anyone ever win big on those, I also like to play Texas Hold-em and Black Jack, but most un-lucky. The stock market is mostly strategy that is not luck.

Blessings and hugs dear friend.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 31, 2016:

Devika, wining does make one feel good but losing makes one feel down (discouraged) and sad.

I hope all is well with you.

Blessings dear friend.

Audrey, thank you for the comment. I am not sure Lady Luck smiles on anyone as Mike said, she is fickle.

Blessings my dear friend.

Lots of luck to anyone who thinks they're lucky...

Evergreen poem ~ love your style, Shyron.

FlourishAnyway from USA on May 31, 2016:

Oh, gambling can be so addictive. I usually stay away from it (although I have won $100 playing scratch offs). I prefer to play the stock market, and I'm good at it! I have a very quantitative and analytical mind and can turn emotion off when the stock market gets scary, as I see it as an opportunity.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 31, 2016:

Mike, thank you for the comment and compliment. I do appreciate you!

Blessings always.

Ruby, Ruby my gem of a friend

I keep on hoping that sometime I will win

Lady Luck may appear unexpectedly or not

And I hope it is before Father Time arrives on the spot

And says it is my time like it or not

But, when we come down to it I have won quite a lot

No money, no diamonds, or pearls

But the friendship of the Hubber guys and girls

And one special Ruby who is a gem of a friend

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on May 31, 2016:

Nice one! Wining makes you feel good but when you don't win that can make you feel a drag.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 31, 2016:

Dear Theresa of Faith, thank you for the comments. I keep thinking that I have given up but then I buy another lottery ticket and I think about all the people I help with that and then I think about all the people that have more than the prize I would win and wonder why don't they help others -- and then think maybe they do and just don't tell anybody--I wouldn't, I would just have them wondering where the help came from.

Blessings and hugs dear friend.

Audrey Howitt from California on May 30, 2016:

Nicely said! I am not sure that she has ever smiled on me in that way!

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on May 29, 2016:

Nice poem and hope Lady Luck soon shines on you.

Michael-Milec on May 29, 2016:

Great poem sounds as a confession anyone can relate to. As for me in order to have chance to win in this world's gaming I have to start playing. Meanwhile I have joined a small group of permanent winners following the Victorious Master.

mckbirdbks from Emerald Wells, Just off the crossroads,Texas on May 29, 2016:

Hello Shyron. You present an interesting theory. Lady luck, is fickle and you capture her wispy nature well.

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on May 29, 2016:

Don't give up Shyron, your time will come, just wait and see

Lady luck can be disappointing but she appears unexpectedly

It might come as a gift or lotto play

Or perhaps the horses on a fast track someday

Whether it's money, diamonds or pearls

It will happen, cos you're one of my favorite hubber girls.

LOL

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on May 29, 2016:

I don't gamble at all. With my addictive personality it's best if I just stay away from it...loved the poem, and a great reminder for me.

blessings my friend.

Faith Reaper from southern USA on May 29, 2016:

Ain't it the truth, Shyron!

I have officially given up, except last year I was tempted and went on and entered the 2016 HGTV Home giveaway ...oh, well on that one too. Hahaha

I have won one thing in my entire life and that was a yummy chocolate cake in an elementary school Halloween carnival cakewalk way back when I was a young child.

Your poem sums it up perfectly.

Blessings

Hey Shyron, nice poem. I feel the same way..never win anything. Always hopeful, but it never happens.
