We Finished One Project

One Brush At A Time

It is late October

Our deck desperately needed attention

So off to the store

Picking up stain and paint brushes

Rushing home to get started

Getting a quick bite to eat

We know once we start we won't have time to stop

Brushes in hand

We open the can

Brushing we will go

Across the banister so

Down the railings

Underneath the face boards

Finding every hidden spot

Sticking in the tip

To get the paint just right

Oh darn

I got paint on my arm

As we both twist and turn

There are more places we did not see

A little more paint, please

My paint pan is empty

Watching the paint being stirred

Swirling around

I am over here kneeling on the ground

Trying to get along the outer edge

Now we are ready for the deck

Up and down

Back and forth

A little bit more here

I dripped too much over there

One can down and another can to go

Sliding things out of the way

Giving the deck a nice shine

It looks just fine

Clean up

Brushes in a bucket

Water to rinse those babies out

More and more

The stain turns the water blue

Over and over

Squeezing the brushes tight

Finally done

Picking up the mess

We feel the muscles in our body ache

Dry deck dry

Hopefully, you will do a good job

Protecting the deck from the harsh winters, pouring rain and the blazing hot sun

Good for five to ten years

A wonderful Newburyport Blue shining in the light

A little later the night rolls in

Finished in a nick of time

Gypsy Rose Lee I am proud of all our effort. Sometimes things don't come out the best. This time it worked out well. I would love to hear about the last project you did? I like to see how other people handle their struggles and challenges. I can learn from you. Thank you for always commenting and sharing your passion for writing. Maybe today you can take that beautiful walk you have been talking about to the water. Have fun. Life can not be all about work 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You need to have fun and then when you return back to work you will be filled with the greatest energy and maybe your best writing ever. Happy Sunday. Please stay safe and happy.

It is always a good feeling to get a job done and then be able to appreciate the work and how it looks.
