Waning
We frolic in the warmth
of summer’s waning sun
and slowly layer ourselves
for winter’s isolation.
We tread through the corpses
of nature’s love;
fighting off the crispness
of fall’s first freeze.
Time will not wait as we
tender our harvest
and measure our stores against
winter’s coming softness.

Makes me look forward to fall and winter.
