After School Buddy
Dyna doesn't have many friends but there is this childhood friend she would never forget and this piece of the memory they shared together.
After School Buddy
It’s 4:00 in the afternoon
Every one rushes out of our classrooms
Some were fetched by parents
Some ride on tricycles
Some just walk
Either on their slippers
Or on their shoes
“Come on.” She said.
That’s my friend Bernadeth.
We started to walk together
Suddenly, I tripped
Then I look down
“Oh! My blue Camino sandals.”
“It’s new but it’s easily torn out.”
I pick it up
Then I tried to fix it.
We started to walk again
And walk
And stop
And fix it all again
“Bernadeth?” I called.
“Here,” she said.
As she handed me her slippers.
We started to walk
And walk
But we do not stop
On my feet are her slippers
My sandals on her hands
As it dangles in the air
While she walks barefoot
We walk together
Like we don’t care.
“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”
