Paint - My Soul Awaits
Is it the way I look at you?
Or if my eyes are river blue
My locks of hair flow down my back
Or my long talons painted black
Is it the superficial paint on my face?
Or the way I dress that turns you my way
Is it the way I gracefully move?
When I walk past you in a crowded room
Am I just a trophy for you to possess?
That sets you much higher... above all the rest
Is it the shiny new car that I drive?
That makes you smile at me and feel like THE guy
Or could it be that I might have a soul
Deep down inside, someone you might want to know
Is it my laughter that touches your face?
Or the smile that I give you, that makes you feel this way
Do you look at me to see what I might have inside?
A tender heart that wants to love that special guy
Do you bother to know what's inside?
Before you talk to me, do you find out why
Do you look at a book, only to see its cover?
Never to view the inside, there are things that you might discover
A warm heart, that’s tender and true
A gentle touch that might be worth something to you
See me for all that I am worth
Look deep inside before you say a word
Gaze deeply into my eyes past all this paint
If you look close enough there's a soul inside that waits
"Let me paint you a picture - a picture with words"
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of writing poetry!

Thank you so much. I believe in getting to know the heart and looks come last. If someone is beautiful and their soul is ugly, makes the entire package ugly, but if one's soul is beautiful then the entire package is beautiful!

Such wonderful advice in this one.
Too dig a little deeper and see what's hiding beneath the cover of one's face. To see the real person underneath.
