Uncertainty on Spiritual Path: A Poem

Val is a life-long practically oriented student of effective emotional and attitudinal responses to the many challenges of life.

I took that proverbial road less travelled by

covered with roses along with their thorns

it often took me down and it took me high

but it taught me how to grab life by horns.

On spiritual path planning is an illusion

as we can never know how life may unfold

and looking for a certainty just brings confusion

for as long as we grow truth surely changes its mold.

If a signpost jumps up ahead with a "sameness" reading

prudence would suggest that we question our road

for there is no sameness where spirit is leading

it's a life stagnation with its unbearable load.

Life means change and life means growing

less than that means just our slowly dying

in our boat we are the only ones rowing

we can do it laughing, or do it crying.

Those who seek certainty of a rut

and their clear map of all roads ahead

might as well wake up leaving their eyes shut

for they may be breathing, but their spirit is dead.

You are really on a roll, Amigo! And it's an enjoyable roll for your readers. This one speaks volumes and I am listening! Thanks, Val.

Good depiction, Val, we all have to stick our necks out sometime if we want to get out of the rut.
