Two Years Ago to Heaven
I am an new writer who enjoys expressing my thoughts through poetry, travel and well being tips
That late afternoon sunset in the window
Of your hospital room where I held your hand
And told you all those loving words
Thanking you for your love and support
Not knowing if you could hear me
But feeling the incredible strength of your love
A powerful moment of courage took over me
To say all those things that would help let you go
To a better place where all the pain would be gone
So up to that space it beckoned you, the light shone
On that winter night just before it all changed
The family gathered around and you were surrounded by love
We left you in peace to go deep into the night
Heaven gained a beautiful spirited angel
And to have let you go has been so painful
But knowing a Mother’s love is forever
Comforts our hearts and souls as we go on.

Heartfelt words. I can relate to this part right now... "powerful moment of courage took over me
To say all those things that would help let you go"
This is so hard but necessary to do. Heartbreaking but watching the suffering is worse.
Good write.

Such a beautiful and touching tribute Nella, written from the heart. I can relate to the last two lines and this is what keeps us strong as we go on. A wonderful tribute in a lovely poem.
