Turning Around

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

Every day it seems,
the world is turning around,
faster and faster -
spinning out of control.'
The seasons change,
the days flow by,
the clock does not stop
and often I wonder why.
Turning around,
I see the autumn colors,
the river swiftly flowing,
before the winter chains it
and it will wait in frozen splendor-
for spring to free it.
Turning around,
I remember our days together,
hand in hand through the seasons,
together just you and I.
Time went too swiftly
and I lost you along the way,
but now my memories.
keep me remembering,
the days that were so special,
the days when our love was real.
Now as another winter,
is going to knock at my door.
I long to hold your warm hand in mine,
but still turning around -
I see your bright smile
and shining blue eyes before me.
I know that as things,
in this world keep spinning,
there is still life to enjoy
and someday turning around -
I'll see you on the path to eternity.

Thank you, Marl. Might try to slow down some in October,

Enjoy the poem. If you are more aware of time, we might be able to slow down and enjoy it more.

It is true that as we age, time does seem to move faster. At my age, it is literally flying by! Your poem is lovely.

Beautifully composed poem Gypsy Rose. It's true that time seems to fly within the sink of an eye. Everything changes and we yearn for the good old days. I loved the poem. Thanks for sharing

Hello Rasma!

Beautifully composed poem, and I can relate to the thoughts behind the poem. As we age, time seems to move faster. I also feel, that I have so much to do, and the days, the months, the years, the seasons-- everything is running at a faster pace.

Thank you for sharing this well expressed poem!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on September 28, 2021:

Although it is scientifically impossible for time to move faster, I swear, at my age, it is happening. Maybe that's because, at 72, the time I have left is so dear.

Loved the poem. I hope this finds you well.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on September 28, 2021:

This is a beautiful poem, and it says so much about our world at this time, plus the lost love. Well done!

Umesh Chandra Bhatt from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on September 27, 2021:
