The poet is a medical student with a weird sense of humour and spends a great deal of time exploring ways to flourish his cultural insight.
Tribute to RMC
As night deepens, I gaze upon the black sky
Each time I peep from my wooden window, I see
SIRIUS, the brightest star in the horizon, sparkling
Night may get darker but Sirius never ceases to glow ,
Like a lantern of hope in the farthest horizon. Just like
People find their beacon of hope, an abode of safety in
RAJSHAHI MEDICAL COLLEGE , my alma mater, a save haven.
Doctors, nurses, teachers, students, staffs together
What a harmony we create together!
Students here aspire to learn and are taught to serve
Even at the face of eminent danger, be it
Cancer, some contagious disease, even
Pandemics, like COVID-19.
So, this day I pay homage to
The front line fighters, our saviours,
The brave children of RMC, who
Dedicated their time and life fighting against corona
Keeping us safe during this national crisis
My heart beats fast, nerves tingles,
Eyes gleam with tears of joy, tears of pride
Each time someone praises a doctor, each time
I call myself a ‘Proud RMCian'.
About Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) :
Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) is a government medical school in Bangladesh, established in 1958. It is located in Rajshahi. It is affiliated with Rajshahi Medical University. It was the second such institution in erstwhile East Pakistan after Dhaka Medical College. It has a large hospital that is the central provider for advanced health care in the northern part of Bangladesh.
At present MBBS, BDS and postgraduate course on different subjects are running in this college. BDS course was launched in 1992 and postgraduate course in 1998. General Medical Council of Great Britain recognised this medical college on 1 July 1992. Many doctors and students of this college participated in the Liberation War of Bangladesh back in 1971 and at present graduates of this institution are playing a crucial role in national development via their services in the medical arena.
Note from the poet :
I being a student of RMC, dedicate this poem to not only all kind hearted doctors and medical students of Rajshahi Medical College but also to all the brave doctors serving as the front line fighters of corona crisis. The world is indeed undergoing a period of grave danger and distress at the moment. Covid-19 is not only a biological disease but also a terrible mania that can easily rip any sane man of his mental stability.
So, with this self composed poem of gratitude, I hope to relieve all my readers of the mental pressure for this time being.

This is a very appropriate and well-written poem for a time such as this. We all owe a lot especially at this time to those working in health services.
