Trees - Gift of Life

Nithya Venkat enjoys writing about nature and different aspects of life in the form of poetic verses.

Gift of Life In a Tree

Gift of Life In a Tree

Square in a circle

Circle in a hole

Hole in your heart

Heart without a soul

Roots without a hold

Soil without embrace

Life on planet earth

Lost without a trace

Remorseless trees are cut

Millions of years of growth lost

It seems that we clearly don’t see

The death of life in a tree

The elixir of life, oxygen

Trees generously give

Humans on earth, remember

We need oxygen to live

A stone-cold heart

A heart without a soul

Remorseless trees are cut

We are losing control

Plant trees, replenish earth

Let us bring them back to life

Gift earth to our future generations

A planet that can survive

Stop cutting down trees, let planet earth live.

The theme of your poem is based on deforestation to bring awareness to every soul on this earth. I liked the following verse the best:

Plant trees, replenish earth

Let us bring them back to life

Gift earth to our future generations

A planet that can survive

I like your poem a lot. Thank you, Nithya, for sharing.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on October 11, 2020:

I totally agree with your sentiments in this wonderful poem, Nithya, when will man realise how important trees are for using up the carbon dioxide and expiring oxygen for us? The destruction of forests is one of the main reason for climate change and the build up of CO2.
