Time Passes Quickly

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

for-the-good-times

As the years go by,
as the seasons melt one into another,
as the clock keeps ticking,
I realize that -
time passes so quickly.

Somewhere my love,
it is so true,
that our love was heaven sent
and the days we spent,
were gilded in gold,
but as we strolled hand in hand,
the days just drifted on,
seasons and years passed before we knew it,
we had to finally admit -
time passes so quickly.

Through the good times and the bad,
holding each other when we were sad.
I t seemed that we took one turn,
while dancing cheek to cheek
and suddenly another year had slipped by.
Wish there was a way,
to turn back the clock
but then life would not keep moving on,
so even though,
time passes so quickly.
at least we found each other
and for a short while -
our love made time stand still.

Sometimes it seems,
that twenty years,
went by in the blink of an eye,
so that it seemed,
you and I were flying through the skies,
instead of walking along,
our feet firmly on the ground.
One day I looked around,
saw all the changes all about,
the only thing left to say -
time passes so quickly.

Before we even knew it,
we were growing old,
silver threads replaced the gold.
one day it happened,
that your time on earth was through,
but I had to keep on going -
remembering you my love.
Butterflies were still dancing,
about the roses,
the sun stil warm in the sky,
at least the memories I have,
will keep me remembering,
our days beneath the sun,
time and time again.

Somewhere my love,
beyond the rainbow,
you are shining your love down on me,
making those special memories shine,
knowing you'll always be mine
and taking my hand -
when my days on earth are through.
