Throw off the Shackles

The light is getting brighter now

the tunnel end is getting near

When all this ends, I’ve made a vow

enjoy the things that I hold dear

I’ll give my mum a great big hug

The grandkids kisses by the score

No more afraid to catch this bug

And Live my life behind a door

We’ll go out drinking with our friends

And have picnics on the beach

things on which our happiness depends

That We thought were out of reach

let’s throw off those covid shackles

let’s go out singing in the rain

we have finished with the battles

let normal life begin again

Thanks Ann. I am looking forward to the simple things, like going for a drive and being able to stop for a coffee.

Here's to that! Sadly, it seems that Europe's numbers are rising again so we're not sure if there's another wave about to engulf us here in Britain. I'm hoping the vaccines will hold that at bay.

Great poem, full of hope.
