This is the Reason I Missed

A Closed Gate

A Closed Gate

This is the Reason I Missed

My appointment at the dentist.

When I turned on the TV

I found there was no entry

Into Lahore. For the maulvi

Had taken over the country.

He says that Asia Bibi

(A Christian Pakistani

Accused of blasphemy

Found 'not guilty')

Must not walk free.

He's set fire to buses

Filled the air with curses.

He has nothing to do

So I can do nothing

But wait for him to

Stop his barking.

@DreamerMeg: Thank you very much for liking my little poem. I live far from Lahore myself, but for Lahoris, it must have been very scary.

DreamerMeg from Northern Ireland on February 02, 2020:

I remember that incident. It must have been very scary for everyone concerned. Great poem, covers the case and the cause with great minimalism. (There probably is no such term, but I couldn't think of a word that meant you had used very few words and yet had completely covered the subject.)

I like this poem because it reflects concern for another human being. Good going Bushra.
