There's No Escape

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Summary of Poem

There's no escape is about her attempting to erase the heartache he left. But she feels him beneath her skin. She thinks about him. She wishes to hear his familiar voice. To feel the passion in his kiss. He is part of her being. There is no escape.

"There's No Escape "

She plans to erase
the heartache,
but he lives underneath her skin.

Her thoughts wander aimlessly,
seeing his reflection
in the mirror of the past.

Absence making her heart grow fonder,
wishing to hear the echo
of his familiar voice,
with the thrill of excitement
lingering in each word.

Feeling the passion
boiling in his veins,
with each tender kiss
stroking her with compliments.

He is part of her being,
intertwined like the air she breathes,
there is no escape.

Beautiful, emotional, and powerful. Nicely done Brenda.

It can be hard to free our selves from loves clutches. Even when love is hurting us. Loves power has a way to compel us to keep fighting for it. Sometimes when we do, we get hit by shrapnel.

She is not yet ready to let go of all that is familiar and safe. These are strong emotions full of love and hurt, which can be toxic. Great poem Brenda.

Such a powerful poem you have written on a love that is so deep that one can never forget it. Your poem so deftly written conveys how one can become almost a prisoner of such overwhelming emotions. Great writing, Brenda!

Brenda, there is really no escape when he is really part of her breath and intertwined. Good and lovely poem. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see you back, Brenda. The poem is rather sad. Hopefully, the girl will find new and inspiring love once again, forgetting the previous one and there will be sunshine for the girl again. Beautiful poem.
