Then Why to Regret - Response to Brenda Arledge Word Prompt

Umesh is a freelance writer contributing his creative writings on varied subjects in various knowledge and educational sites in internet.

We all regret at something at sometimes in our lives as it is a natural successor of certain events in our lives. It is one of the emotions that emerges out from nowhere and makes us to feel guilty. It is definitely an unwanted thing but it comes so naturally to us that it is too late for us to contain it with logical thinking.

This poem is inspired by the word prompt challenge: regret - week 20 by our fellow hubber Brenda Arledge and I have tried to cover some aspects of regret in this poem.

Then why to regret

When people err,
Mistakes often happen.
With that experience,
They get themselves sharpen.
This is an opportunity,
To try better and to get.
The expectations in life,
Then why to regret.

They had a relation,
Apparently heavenly.
Later it was revealed,
They had cheated evenly.
Let go ones way ahead,
Sun has still not set.
The world is quite big,
Then why to regret.

They did not keep the words,
Simply dishonoured others.
They never showed remorse,
In their evil feathers.
We ignored them as,
Our own plans were set.
We gave them they deserved,
Then why to regret.

We did our best,
But destiny had something else.
We must be contented,
This the wise teacher tells.
We cannot explain,
That we sometimes get.
Accept everything as it is,
Then why to regret.

A very good poem in response to Brenda’s prompt “regret.” I am sure most of us have some regrets but as long as we treat those situations as learning experiences and move on wiser because of it, so be it. Nice job, Umesh.

In your introduction you tell us that we all have regrets sometimes.

It comes so naturally, that it's often too late to think logically.

I love that quote..we need to live for today.

In your poem, Then why to regret you tell us that people make mistakes, but it gives them the opportunity to do better next time.

We have heavenly moments that touch our hearts but when it crumbles we shouldn't feel regret for the sun is still shining.

We can't help the fact that others have no remorse in their words.

We can only ignore them and continue our life without regret.

We know in our heart we did our best, but we must accept that Destiny has something better planned.

We must take the good with the bad. Accept our Fate having no regrets.

Great job! We often don't know what destiny has planned for us.

We can't control the actions of others, only our own.

Have no regrets.
