The Bouquet of Tulips

Jusmi is an English teacher. Obtained her Masters in English literature from Gauhati University India shares an immense love for writing.

On a morning golden and new,

Waking up I saw a bouquet of tulips,

Lying on my porch.

Suspicious and happy at the same time I felt.

And my thousand thoughts started to flew.

Was it my old crush or a new ?

Was it the corner man that I knew.

Did he left only the flowers or also card ?

Did he render any note ?

Or confess or surrendered a load.

I took the flowers in my hand.

And dwelled in the memory lane.

Of promises that were not kept,

Of my heart that was broken and swept.

Did he return ?

Was he sorry and wanted to refund ?

I touched the soft petals of the tulips,

And relished the sweetness of love in sips !

But, was it him or someone else ?

I wondered day and night.

Keeping the bouquet near my sight,

I was thinking day and night.

Of the time we spend together.

Engulfing and lingering I realised,

The smell that came from the bouquet,

Made me love the tulips all over again.
