The Wrong Forever

I wasn't staring just to be saved by you
I was ready enough to stop dreaming
It was a reason to turn on the light
To clean my blood from your fingernails

What lead your heart away?
Who cleared the way for you?
Was it another sad bridge to cross
Or a scream that shocked the sun?

Did you need me to find your way
It seems you know yourself now
Telling me a broken heart is nothing new
The stars break promises every night

If there was anything left to feel
You decided it wasn’t worth the wait
I once wondered if we were about forever
I didn't know forever could be wrong

Thanks for reading Paul. Yes, lost love, especially the latent realization that it was the one is really tough.

Sad piece. Whether unrequited or just broken, lost love is always painful no matter what. Nice work.
