The World Instead of You

I wish you'd said that thirty years ago
It would have flown right inside of me
Now I have felt the world and it's hard
While your silent eyes scream it's true

I'm not worried about losing my head
It took this long to find my way back
I remember every flower and storm
I could walk it again but tell me why

You won't let me when I have the time
You want my time to let you live with me
I let things build up just trying to be a man
Now love is only a moment to think of you

Sometimes I think I owe you what's left
But that's not an obligation you care for
If we could find a way to love a new way
Knowing you like I do is almost good enough
