The Woman on the Bench

The Woman on the Bench

There was a woman sitting on a bench

Soon enough she sat there drenched

The next day she was lying down

It looked as if she had been drowned

Birds twittered the only sound

Bugs crawled up from the ground

When the sun came up men walked passed

None of them had the courage to ask

Why the woman wasn’t moving

The only thing they did was proving

It was true what had happened to her

It was nothing but a big blur

And this is what went wrong

Someone in a mask was trotting along

He was holding a sharp knife

When he took her poor life

And that is why she didn’t lift

As the cold air went through her in a drift

The lady on the bench

Who was nothing but drenched
