The Valley of Bones
Lee is an aspiring writer who makes poems in his free time. Words and lines give him comfort in trying times.
Tired and lost
Blistered feet from walking and wandering
No place to go, no fruits to bear
The day of reckoning draws near.
I walk in this valley
Sun scorching my skin
Draining my soul
Wearing away my hope.
I was once a zealot
Gave my life away for a cause
And for what? For nothing
It’s all been just a great ruse.
They said I just need more faith
Hold on and pray for rain
I’ve lost my first love
I’ve become who I hated.
In the valley of bones
Where dreams and hopes are buried
Visions and glimpses of a bright future
Sucker-punched by life himself.
This is where I will lie
My life’s done, time’s up
Look at your prophet, see how he withered
In the hands of your great sower.
