The Story In Your Head

Writing poetry is an alternative form of self-expression for Audrey. " It's how I release my deepest thoughts and emotions."

You are the creator of your story.

You are the creator of your story.

The Story in Your Head

The story in your head

Illusions of your life

Mind patterns, emotions, reactions

Fear, guilt, suffering, problems

Too much future

Not enough presence

Leave the analytical mind

Leave the false creations

Connect to the essence of being

Stillness, oneness, consciousness

Completely focused on the present

The doorway into the now

The script in your head

Deeply rooted within the body

Dictating thoughts and behaviors

Clutter everywhere

Stay present

Be free for brief interludes

Feel your energy field

Ride the beam of light

Caress the realm of pure being

Enclosed within your blueprint

A process of purification and clarification

Free from all roles and identifications

Edit your thoughts

Adapt, reflect, and adjust

Foster acceptance

Without the presence of ego

The universe, mastery of Art

Every human, an artist

Receive it, conceive it

Residing In your mind.

We weave our stories

Through threads of time

A silent partner

Flaunting the painted mask

The over-thinking

Thoughts never stop

We all have scars

We all have marks

Fling open the curtains of your mind

Your beliefs become your thoughts

Your thoughts become your words

Your words become your story.

Emily Dickinson

I am the captain of my soul.

Hi Peggy

How right you are! It seems like I'm constantly decluttering my surroundings. I never seem to find an end to it. Thank you so much.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on June 06, 2021:

Decluttering our mind is just as important as decluttering our surroundings. Your poem carries an important message. We are what we think in so many ways.

Rawan Osama from Egypt on June 05, 2021:

We are overwhelmed with media news, etc. Add to all that, our own inner dialogue, and it's no wonder stress is at an all-time high. Thanks for your comments and for appreciating my poem.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on May 30, 2021:

Audrey,

This poem is absolutely outstanding!

Our minds do get cluttered and cause us to overthink.

We often use words that come from our brains without thinking, without editing them.

It soon becomes our story.

Great writing.

I love the Emily Dickinson quote too.

Hi Flourish

I needed to read your message today. Thank you so much for your empathy. I'm sure I will be on the mend before long. It only hurts when I breathe!

Audrey Hunt (author) from Pahrump NV on May 30, 2021:

"I am the master of my faith, I am the captain of my soul." These powerful lines of poetry were penned by poet, William Ernest Henley.

Thank you for appreciating my poetry. I am honored for your visit. Peace to you and yours.

How are you, my friend? Always a pleasure to see you. I'm so happy you loved my poem. I went deep on this one.

I just read an article you created a while back about the colorblind artist. I absolutely love this: "Study your art and art history. Be able to create an opinion of knowledge. Create your own tools if you can’t find what you need. Be creative in life, not just your artistic medium. Most of all, appreciate everything!" A great interview!

Audrey Hunt (author) from Pahrump NV on May 26, 2021:

Pam

How nice to hear from you. I appreciate your kind words. Take care.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Pahrump NV on May 26, 2021:

Linda, you are way too kind, but I love it. "Jack of all trades" comes to mind. Put me in the kitchen, and I'm lost. If not for your amazing recipes, I would classify as the world's most boring cook.

And thanks for congratulating me on my 11 years on HubPages. You're the first.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Pahrump NV on May 26, 2021:

Thank you, Bill. I have always been impressed and inspired by your positive attitude. If I were asked what I admire most about my father it would be his constant positive perspective.

Email on its way.

Thank you for appreciating my poem. I wrote this to help myself direct my attention away from the pain of a broken tailbone. Ouch!

So very true, my friend. Stay positive. I try to follow that simple credo daily, and so far it's worked rather nicely.

Drop me an email and let me know how your book sales are doing. What are you doing to market it, that sort of thing.

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on May 26, 2021:
