The Spirit of Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my Hubber-Friends and HubPages Team. May the Spirit of the Absolute Supreme, continue to bless you and guide your life, into the fullness of experience and the fruits of spiritual solace. All this in harmony and accordance with His Will and Consciousness. Amen.

O Light, my Light, my beautiful Light,

Magi’s follow, Your stars from above.

A child to behold; manger’s Delight,

One filled with lustre; Your purity- dove;

Red suit and hat, with white furry trim,

Santa down the chimney; children’s dreams.

Lots to give out in packages brim,

With red-nosed Rudolph and sleigh, it seems.

O Light, my Light, sweet towering height,

You shine from within, with Love so bright.

Jolly-looking folks, and ‘feel good’ sites,

Jingle-bells ringing, throughout the night.

Mistletoe, dinners, reindeers and wine,

Carollers sing, and carousel glows.

With this great joy, in turkey we dine,

While Christmas cards, gifts and goodness flows.

Sweet Jesus, my Light; radiant Sun,

He died on a cross, God’s Will was done.

Lovers, revellers, invoke the One,

Who rose on day three; was God’s own Son.

Children and snowmen, let us rejoice,

The glorious rising, of the King.

Forgiveness and holiness, our choice,

In goodness of Spirit; gladness sing.

-Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 13th December, 2018.

Wisdom from the Master

"Christmas reveals to us a limitless ocean of Universal Joy. The waves of the suffering world dare not declare their existence.

It is not under the branches, but at the foot of the tree that one gets full protection. Therefore human souls, wherever they may be scattered, return to their families in order to breathe in serenely the Universal Harmony and Peace on Christmas Day." -Sri Chinmoy

Come! Come! Sweet Jesus! A Free Verse Sonnet

Come! Come! Sweet Jesus!

This great pain is tearing my soul.

I’m but a drop in Your vast ocean;

You’re the Father of my tears.

Addicted to wine -- this cellar of perennial Joy,

I swoon, like a drunkard, inebriated in Bliss.

O Light, sweet Light. Tender and fragile am I!

How can I contain, this raging fire of the Heart?

The Saviour said: “Even as you are

Love’s tiny twinkle in the stars,

So too, you are My endless flares,

Glowing in the garden of the Great Unknown.

Blowing the bugle of boundless symphonies;

Igniting the Sun with glimmering rays.”

S orrow and forgiveness flowed,

A s the tool His flesh did gore.

C hrist’s immortal words of Love,

R esonated low; above.

I srael’s son upon the cross,

F aced the callousness of man.

I s it really such a task,

C rying for His Father’s Land?

E nter through God’s Gates of Light;

Wise words from the Master

“Happiness, happiness, happiness… The Saviour came two thousand years ago to bless us, and we must try to be worthy of his blessings. … my message is only happiness. This happiness only we can get from our prayers and our meditation. If you are happy, the whole world is happy.” -Sri Chinmoy

I agree, Peggy.

Even now there are a lot of spiritual people telling us so. Let us hope, watch and pray. Gratitude.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on April 02, 2020:

I am reading this long after the Christmas season, but the message of love, peace, and compassion should be with us each day of the year.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 19, 2018:

Thank you Rajan for your very charming and significant message. My Love to you and family. Om Shanti!

Rajan Singh Jolly from From Mumbai, presently in Jalandhar, INDIA. on December 18, 2018:

May peace prevail and times become joyful. Let this day be a reminder to all to love our brethren. Merry Christmas to you my friend!

manatita44 (author) from london on December 18, 2018:

Thank you Dee.

This one can be also peaceful. Where has Christ gone? Lo, I am with you always, even unto eternal time. Hsppy Christmas.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on December 18, 2018:

Manatita, may you also experience the love, the joy and the peace which were the intent of the original Christmas!

manatita44 (author) from london on December 18, 2018:

Yes ... you are the Light. That is why Godmen love us so much and are so humble. They see us as God sees us but we feel unworthy.

You are a candle of, from and for the Supreme Truth.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 18, 2018:

Thank you my Brother.

You and I, we live in the Spirit. God continue to bless your children and your wife in heaven. Jai Ram!

Venkatachari M from Hyderabad, India on December 18, 2018:

A beautiful message through these poems and quotes.

Christmas celebration implies the celebration of Love, Forgiveness, and showing Mercy to all living beings.

Wish you a blessed Christmas joy and wellbeing.

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on December 17, 2018:

I get the message. Be the light. I had been searching all my life for what I need to do. I am blind and continues to be. Searching for what? Instead...just Be.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 17, 2018:

Yes, yes, I concur and by the way, Linda L told another beautiful story which has some sort of similarity, I think.

Yes, receptivity varies in humans and some are more receptive than others. Nothing to be proud off, for everyone has to walk the walk. In the same way, some humans are very cold. The Christ met lots of them. Many were either scholars or in robes and significant places.

Now my sweet, the spiritual seeker is by nature broken. Since I am a seeker, then I am lacking too. Do you think that I am better? (Chuckle)

A Saint refused to go to a banquet even after being invited by the King. He was finally persuaded by friends. When he got there, he saw the King praying and asking God for more riches. So the Saint left.

The King heard and followed him. "Wait, wait," he said.

"Sorry, said the Saint. Since you are also a beggar, then God is greater than both of us. It is better to go to the One who truly gives freely and does not have to beg, like you."

So we seekers are all beggars. God is our own, of course, but we need to arrive at the point where this can be easily understood. So yes, in a manner of speaking, we are all broken in so far as we are in darkness and need the Light … need Love. Again, you are never broken, for you are His. Does that make sense. Ha ha. You give me joy, my Sweet.

Dana Tate from LOS ANGELES on December 17, 2018:

What a pleasure to wake-up and read this beautiful, inspirational work! When I received the call into ministry, I was told exactly why I was qualified. See, my first instinct was to try to get out of it using my life and struggles as to why I wasn't qualified, only to learn those were the reasons I qualified. Unfortunately, for this reason, I cannot always write or give testimonies from a place of strength. My ministry is tailored for a certain type of brokenness that will only hear from a pair of broken lips. Read my next hub I'm writing to understand more about my unique ministry.

Now, I would love to give you a beautiful testimony about a man I encountered the other day. I was on my way to work with a few other grumpy passengers, mind you, it was 4:00Am in the morning, and this man who was drunk was among us. He was drawn to me and started telling his troubles of how he was homeless and such; but then, he started praising Jesus and asking me and everyone who came into his path if they knew Jesus and, did they know Jesus love them. Before I left I prayed for this man to use the source in him to get better. Whatever he's going through he obviously knows and loves the lord.

This goes back to my original saying sometimes a word is tailored for a certain person or certain type of people and it's not meant for everyone else. Out of all the people on that platform that day God's beautiful word from a beautiful pair of broken lips only appeared to touch one soul that morning... Mine.

Beautiful work, as always..

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on December 16, 2018:

I hope you have a wonderful and very meaningful Christmas and a happy new year, Manatita.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 16, 2018:

Yes, my Sweet. An Inspirational story. We say that there is no such thing as an atheist, that everyone understands Love and God is Love.

The Heart of the law is Mercy and our Lord is always merciful. You know all this, I'm sure.

Giving and receiving … in this game of life who can help whom? We are all His and a 'tramp' may be another means of giving us an opportunity to grow. You know all this. Lately I write too much.

Love you, my Sweet. Gratitude for your 'perfect' sentiment. Humans every where are awakening to some extent. What a joy … what a joy. Glory be!

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on December 16, 2018:

Manatita, this is the second "perfect" give I have received just today. The first was at my church this morning where I witnessed such great love.

About 5 minutes before the worship service was to begin, a young man dressed in ragged clothing and carrying a large backpack (probably filled with all his worldly goods) wandered in and sat by himself in a pew. I had never seen him there before.

An usher handed him a service folder. The couple sitting behind him welcomed him and explained how to use the hymnal and follow along in the worship service. A few minutes later another couple sat next to him. They offered the guest register to him to sign.

For the first 20 minutes of the service, he participated in the recitations and prayers but doing so wiping away a never-ending flow of tears.

When we spoke the Lords Prayer he joined in from memory, never needing to glance even once at the printed words.

I wonder when he had last attended a church. Had it been recently, in his present condition and, if so, was he greeted and treated as a welcome visitor, or was he shunned because of his appearance?

The Pastor's sermon was on the "busy-ness" of the season, that we should not let the flurry of what needs to get done get in the way of our remembering what the season is truly about. That is it Christ's love for us, His sacrifice for us, and how we need to share that love with others.

At the end of the service, others came over to talk with the stranger. The young man was smiling. I was the one that was weeping, tears of joy for a soul that was perhaps wandering and found, at least for a little while, a warm place to be welcomed and loved.
