The Shadows Await

Israel is a fan of many types of music and loves to write, not in any particular order and does them usually at the same time.

I used to only see the light,

That glow luminesced around me,

Around others as well,

In life itself,

The shadows would cower,

I never gave any thought to them,

Merrily on my way to whatever end,

Day after day,

I then started noticing the shadows,

In corners of my eye,

More and more they came about,

Impossible to ignore and recognize,

Soon enough we were staring at each other,

Eye to eye with the shadows,

Perhaps it gave them power being acknowledged,

Maybe I was too weak and gave in,

For a while they ruled my life,

Exuberant amounts of liquid to alter my state of mind,

Night after night with no memory,

To stifle the dark voices was my excuse,

I haven't defeated the shadows,

Nor will I ever will,

They will always be there waiting eternally,

I just learned to live freely above them...
