The Rearview

hallucinations about death and heaven

a paradox embedded in an idea

my reputation precedes me

and I’m eager to reflect

on a pair of legs I found

laying crisscrossed on a chair

both covered in black ash

caught between an idea & a first creation

come to me now

stay with me this morning

take a seat next to me

we will be waiting for the night to come

this will cease to be a great day

place a silent bet on a divine pleasure

the system of an ideal balance has strayed

being left alone without much preparation

he can’t hold on

look at that softening smile

the spirited passion of the lover,

her natural beauty

both standing at the edge of the primrose path

Excellent poem. I loved it. I liked the way you used abstract symbols in your work.

Original and it says much about the human condition - looking behind oneself leads to stumbling when going forward in life.

Much respect,

Tim
