The Rain Tells Me To

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

The Rain Says

The Rain Says

It told me to go get cosy

Read a nice book and have a strong cup of coffee

The rain told me to grab a blanket and stay close to my loved one in bed

It told me to go by the window and watch earth absorb life

The rain told me to go outside and wet my face and feet

It told me to stay inside and write something sweet

The rain told me that the covenant still exists

It told me to play a soothing song

The rain told me despite what science says, there is awesomeness in the creator

The rain told me that life must have had a designer

The rain showed me that it is the life giver

As old shrubs shake up and green up to its beat

Dying plants rejuvenated and back boastfully on their feet

The rain told me of its purity

Water from the clouds is life’s surety

The Rain told me to write, the rain told me to read

The rain told me to go outside and plant a seed

The rain told me sit on my veranda and enjoy a strong drink

The rain made me ponder, it made me think

I simply hope tomorrow will be the same

Because I just love listening to the rain

Clive with your poem, you certainly make us appreciate the rain and see its beauty! I like both the simplicity as well as the profoundness of your poem. I particularly like these lines, "The rain told me of its purity. Water from the clouds is life’s surety."

This was simply beautiful. I love the rain, just as long as it gives us breaks and let’s the sun come out too. Balance.

Thats so true mark.

Mark Tulin from Santa Barbara, California on October 10, 2018:

Nice. We often overlook the value of the rain especially in regions where it is so plentiful.

My boy and I love to play "favorite .... today". We did favorite Dance Music, and that little punk said Rain. I can dig it.

I don't mind rain when I don't have to go out in it! Yes, I love listening to rain too.
