The Radiant Joy of Being

A deep, unshakable peace

Just be

No need to beg for scraps of pleasure

A treasure lies within

Infinitely greater than what the world can offer

The radiant joy of being.

Hi Peggy

Thank you, my friend. Little did I know that back in 2019 we would be facing the challenges before us today. I hope things are well in Houston and stay safe and healthy.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on September 10, 2020:

What lovely thoughts you penned in this bit of prose. That is a great photo of you next to the tree.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on July 24, 2020:

Dear Eric

Thank you, my friend. I certainly do appreciate all my hub page buddies. With our present lockdown, I sure do get lonely. I realize plenty of other folks, especially older ones like myself, miss socializing. I live alone too. I hope you are getting along well and being a good boy! :)

Blessings and gratitude to you. Keep smiling.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on July 22, 2020:

Audrey I watch writing I really like. You have very good friends.

It's clear that you have enjoyed and conquered the state of just "being." To appreciate being in the moment we have had to experience being in the moment. Thank you for your kind words.

Monika Kushwaha from India on July 21, 2020:

An absolute poem. The ultimate thought of being is greater than any other pleasure of the world. Short yet a poem with oceanic meaning Audrey Hunt.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on December 16, 2019:

Being in the moment is so very healthy for us. When my mind begins to entertain negative or sad thoughts, I interrupt my inner dialogue and "just be."

Good thoughts to you,

Yes. As much as I wanted to make poetry however, I am trying to locate some of old poems. Most of the poems that I have right now we're written from my dialect.

This brought back to mind George Harrison's reminiscence of his late mother, Mary, who appeared to him at a time of personal trial and said, "Let it be". But you have gone deeper in each line of your poem.

Such beautiful comments! I think the only time I am living in the moment is through music. When I'm working on a Bach Invention for piano, it's impossible for me to be distracted by anything. My total concentration has to be on the notes I'm playing. Just thought I'd share this with you. This is the only time I can just "be."

Thank you!

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on July 14, 2019:

Your lovely comments have touched me and I thank you. Learning to live in the moment, in the now, brings peace and frees us from worry. It takes practice - there are so many distractions in the way. Meditation helps to quiet the mind. I have a feeling you have already learned to simply "be." Wonderful!

Thank you, my friend.
