The Visit

In some nursing homes or rehabilitation places for the elderly, the view would and should bother you …

Scattered old trees with lifeless eyes, weary bodies, drugged up bodies, sitting in agony, sitting in loneliness, in a crowded room, with TV blaring and no one caring, or really watching…

Empty sad eyes and dry parched lips were easily seen from those old, tired bones who refuse to call these places home…

I felt their grief, heard their unspoken words reeking through those wheelchairs as they sat there staring into space, with blank expressions on their once proud and strong face.

Sat there with screaming eyes looking for answers, looking for family and how to generate enough strength to get out of this place…

Isolated and forgotten, dry tear stains can’t help but show, in every feeble attempt to show some spark of still being in control, of their once vibrant bodies…

Boredom, depression and abuse can be clearly seen…

Lethargic and confused can be clearly seen...

Out-of-sight, out of mind, can be clearly seen…

Private rooms take a backseat to all of the gloom coming out of the other rooms…

The elderly deserved better and those who neglect them, forget them, should hope they find longevity like many of them…

The Old Trees are finding it hard to stand erect with so much disrespect now governing their life...

The elderly, those walking Libraries, with all those treasured memories, deserve better!

While the breath of life is still in them, make them comfortable, make them not afraid to grow old...

The visit was supposed to produce cheers when all it produced was tears...

Don't let true Elderly Care Disappear, like some of them old trees out there, they deserve better!

The Golden years should be the most peaceful years, and wherever the elderly land, I pray people around them Give-a-damn!
