The Man Who Lived Forever

Updated on March 7, 2018

The life of The Man Who Lived Forever.

When he was ten, his mother told him to study hard,

When he did and finished one course after another,

he was told to get a job,

When he did, he was asked to work for a promotion.

When it became too much, he wanted,

those ten years he wasted on a stupid desk back,

Then, he saw, a woman enjoying, playing the guitar.

He then learnt music, he wrote songs,

he sang, he roamed here and there ,

to fill the hole in his heart.

He asked, " How do I become content?",

One said," Find your passion",

So, he set out to do just that,

He learnt and put his heart into all arts and jobs,

Tea stalls, sword fighting, sumo wrestling,

teaching, schools,pubs, discos and parties.

He went everywhere, did everything,

but found his cup empty always in the end.

He lost all hope and sat on the street,

slowly, one after another, tears started rolling.

He felt a hand on his shoulder,

he slowly lifted his head,

A beggar was comforting him.

The ragged beggar slowly searched,

in his tattered bag and offered him ,

a half- eaten apple.

He didn't want to take it ,

but his hand moved on it's own and grabbed it.

When he took his first bite,

he felt as if a river of euphoria, of happiness , of energy, of peace, cleansed him.

He got up and looked at himself,

His hands looked as if they had been bathed in milk,

His face felt as soft as a cloud,

His body felt as strong as a rock,

But something made him feel happier,

He felt as though someone filled the hole in his heart.

He looked around to thank the beggar,

The man was no where to be found,

Not a trace of the beggar,

only a note,

"I hope you will be the one who fills someone else's heart!"

said the note.

With tears in his eyes and a smile on his face, the man walked away.

Centuries later , the world still remembers him,

as the man who saved the entire world,

by pouring in his love and kindness,

And bearing all pain on his back.

He stills walks this path,

He still roams this world, helping people.

As the wind which brings a good thought,

or a song which rejuvenates you ,

or the rain which cleanses the Earth and your heart.

Can you guess who I'm talking about?

      Hi Srianshu!

This a wonderful poem, very absorbing. I see that you joined HubPages recently. But your work is so promising, that I am sure you would do extremely well as a writer. Writers mature with each of their submissions. We should always be learning by reading more and more, and writing more and more.

HubPages is a wonderful platform to learn and polish the art of writing.

Welcome to HubPages and wish you great times ahead.

Your poem beautifully represents the young mind, in search of wisdom.

Thank You for sharing! Wish you all the best!

Your free verse poetry is startling and invokes peaceful thoughts within any reader who happens upon it. I particularly like the fact that there is a story within your lines, a story of salvation and sincerity.

Your poetry derives from your heart. Poetry derives from your soul. Your mind created a perfect marriage of the two with resounding style and clarity.

The only advice I will share with you as a fellow poet and writer is to stay motivated and keep producing such wonderful work. Therein lies a writer.

      Much respect,
