The Last Drop Taken
Awaken with a foggy mind
hazy eyes, head pounding
memories from the night before, missing
pushed away for safe keeping
when will enough be enough
can not seem to quench the thirst
forgotten task left undone
asking for help is endless
so close but can not seem to grasp
one last drop to ease the mind
tomorrow comes fast
will the cycle continue
or can this drop be the last

Thanks for much Rinita. I really love writing them. I like the idea of keeping them open ended. I normally don't follow any rules, I just write what I feel.

Asking for help is endless... I think it will not be the last drop because it is a cycle continue. So beautiful quote. Thank you, Joni.

Beautiful work, my friend, gritty yet flowing. I like how open ended your poems are. This one, I perceive, is from the viewpoint of a dementia patient, but of course, might mean something totally different to another reader.
