The Lake Up North

I have stumbled across a new passion: writing. It is proving to be insightful and rewarding.

Burt Lake Michigan

Burt Lake Michigan

Another summer comes to a close as the tourists go home.

I find myself alone, content with the lake as I wrap up in a warm blanket.

Time slips beneath the waves as they gently roll into shore under a setting sun.

The brilliance of orange clouds on the horizon enchant.

Autumn’s chill is in the air as another season is upon us.

The sound of aspen leaves dance on the breeze to hypnotize, all too soon to be on the ground blowing around.

Overall it’s a good life.

So thank the heavens above for the beauty of mother nature as she sleeps in the depths until next summer.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 23, 2021:

Good poem.

I don't know what it's like to live somewhere surrounded by tourists, but I can feel your loneliness.
