Somewhere Out There Is My Happiness

Success, Prosperity, Victory, Worldly Gain

Excitement, Exuberance, Delight

Inner Peace, Contentment, Pleasure

Which of these constitutes

Happiness?

Is it one or two or three of them

Or do they all come together to bring

Happiness?

Is Happiness worth all this heartbreak, this soul searching

This forbearance, this sacrifice, this murder of the psyche

This frequent torrent of bitter recriminations

This myth, this vague thing called

Happiness?

The quest for happiness is a difficult road to travel

So is it worth the pain, this illusion that’s

Happiness?

It’s easy to just give up searching for something so uncertain

Who knows, it might simply be the mirage

Of lonely hearts; of yearning spirits

This elusive dream; this fantasy this

Happiness.

But even after my many resolutions to let it be, to keep my peace

I’m always impelled to try again for at least a glimpse of

Happiness

Indeed, there’s nothing to be gained from giving up

Never to discover what might have been

But in persevering, perhaps, just perhaps

One might obtain a little taste of

Happiness

So on I go from day to day, moment to moment

Yearning, seeking, forging forward in pursuit of

Happiness
