The Gravity of Love

I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.

"You cannot blame gravity for falling in love." Albert Einstein

A certain gravity that holds me down,

there is no escape from your tender touch

the universal force of attraction.

From private place to middle of our town,

the power in your eyes can do so much,

a certain gravity that holds me down.

From here below where stars are worn as crowns

the Earth below your feet within my clutch

this universal force of attraction.

These visions of you in your evening gown

and I am feeding you some fresh Penuche,

this universal force of attraction.

You have erased the etchings of my frown

to reach for sky like a game of double dutch

a certain gravity that holds me down

this universal force of attraction.

Beautiful science and poetry mix.

Super poetry, Jamie; this makes us think about many of the aspects of attraction we are exposed to. Great analogy too.

Nunca se me hubiera ocurrido relacionar el amor con la gravedad ;sin embargo, luego de leer tu poema siento que he perdido el tiempo al no hacerlo.

Verlie Burroughs from Canada on April 03, 2019:

Enjoyed your ode to the gravitational pull of love Jamie. Is it villanelle? The repeating lines and rhyme really accentuate the undeniable force of love. Good one for day 2. I'm quite lost already (and posting on another site as drafts for now).

It has been said that in life the average person will meet 150 people with whom they could be happily married. I suspect that estimate was too low. One could meet that many people here on HubPages and not be surprised at all!

Nothing like a powerful attraction, call it gravity, magnetism, or whatever you wish. Very nice thoughts, Jamie.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on April 02, 2019:

Nice poetry Jamie. The force of attraction is a powerful one.
