The Good Steward
A speaker stood before the crowd,
Shouting loudly so all was heard.
In the audience sat a young man,
So straining to hear every word.
Was this day a young lad decided,
Then was a time to serve the Lord.
Felt that his life was steady enough,
Everything was now to be in accord.
He was determined, a strong devotion,
Had at that time decided to volunteer.
Giving service preaching for the Lord,
And in this choice was most sincere.
As time moved on, this Man of God,
His life grew much stronger, indeed.
Certain in that this so chosen task,
Was to win more souls, to succeed.
He traveled all over the whole world,
The great evangelist, winning many.
Setting a great example all to live by,
For everyone, never denied by any.
A messenger who felt heaven sent,
A representative for all that as good.
Giving all people the keenest vision,
In sharing and caring, as they should.
Over the years this preacher's precepts,
Every cause and advice to be admired.
As a teacher of Christ's ways, himself,
The many followers he had so inspired.
Fine leaders, aristocrats of the globe,
Then all did call on him for his advice.
They all knew he had the best answers,
His to give and were always precise.
His own children so believed in him,
Following his footsteps to the Lord.
Both decided to be as like-servants,
For their own father, they so adored.
Was just one year less than a century,
The time this good man's light to shine.
His Father in Heaven wanted him near,
For he was also His son, so very fine.
