The Good Son Dante
What is a son to a father?
A son is like he when he was younger.
A son is the seed bearer of his name
The boy who will become a man and carry on the flame
Dante Jaheem Williams, you are the best son a father could ask for
Kind, humble and obedient just like the savior
I am glad you are mine, the clone of me
How handsome you are and even more to become, in growth will see
Just the other day you were a hairless chap
Now look at you growing hair all over like a dread locks
Pretty soon I will have to teach you how to shave
As testosterone rushes through your body like a wave
I know you are a good person because you have that December Power
Strong and willful, yet scuttle and humble, a wise listener
Dante, your dad loves you much more than you believe
I watch you, I look at you and understand your teen life and peeves
But always be steadfast on your goals. make them much more than ABC's or 123's
Always strife to be a good person, never one to deceive
Have little friends, love your family more
Because when it comes down to the wire, friends disappear and family stays true to the core
This is just a special short poem for you on this special day.
Dante Williams, my son. Happy 14th birthday.
