I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .
Isn’t it always that way?
Time flows by
and you never know why –
the many loves of your life still haunt your mind.
At the age of ten,
you’re still in Mickey Mouse land,
you think that life is grand,
then daddy dies
and you wonder why.
Never got to say goodbye,
never said that last I love you
and now after all these years –
Daddy the ghost of you haunts me still.
Lost some special friends,
along the way,
funny how they all got in my heart,
leaving behind a trace,
of the friendship and the love,
the ghost of them still near,
can close my eyes and memories,
bring back the old times –
while favorite songs still play in my mind.
After all the years,
thoughts of you still refrain,
your voice, your smile,
the ghost of you,
still here beside me,
you were the last,
my one true love,
my soul mate
and I know -
some day the ghost of you will be waiting for me.
So let life flow on,
let the waves of the sea soothe me,
each sunrise and sunset I know,
the passing years,
bring me closer to you,
as I walk through this life –
holding on to the hand of the ghost of you.

This line is beautiful, haunting, gut-wrenching: "holding on to the hand of the ghost of you." It evokes the memory of my mother, who in two days will have passed away 7 years ago. Thanks for giving us this poem, it is a special gift.

Rasma, this is chillingly beautiful. And I mean that in a good way. We never forget those who have passed when the ghost of them linger in our hearts.

Hovering in the shadowed rafters, they are always with us. I find comfort in that. :)
