The Flowers of Summer

I have always loved writing poetry. I like drawing inspiration from from nature and personal events and interests.

A Burst of Blue

These where in my friend's garden in New Smyrna

Fragrant scents waft through the air,
Filling hot, humid days and warm sultry nights.
Flowers burst the red, white and blue
In every shape and color hue.
Gardenias grow with sun-kissed leaves.
Petunias show their petals to bees.
The roses climb up lattice work;
And mossy vines creep and lurk.

New growth comes with tender leaves,
Hidden under blossoms bent.
Last years plants begin anew,
Giving us their luscious scent.

As the Sun Sets

These where other flowers from my neighbor's garden. The sun was fading from the sky as I snapped the picture.
