The Flowers Are Fake

Author:

If My Cat Could Only Read

You would know

You have been tricked

I see you at the kitchen table

I have told you once before

Don't do it

You look back at me

Getting ready to jump

What are you doing?

I say don't you dare

Then you ignore me

Turning your back

You rush across the table

I am watching you

You try to hide behind the crystal flower vase

I can still see you

You hesitate then start to chomp

Get down

You know better than that

Apparently, you don't

Ah, Ah move it, young lady

You know you are old when you had a complete conversation with your cat

After you realize your cat doesn't talk

Ann Carr My friends know I talk to everything and everyone. They still are here after all these years. They might keep their distance.(lol) It's o.k. I know things about them that is a little bit off the wall too.

Mona Sabalones Gonzalez I have so many crazy stories that our cat Charlotte creates and my wife and I are right in the middle of it. All I can do is try to capture the moment. Pets are wonderful in so many ways. They make each day a little bit different. Thank you so much for reading and caring. Maybe you have a story of your own you would like to share?

Now that's a good idea!

Ann Carr You can always say you are doing it for a friend you have in Maine. He does it all the time. Then they will think I am the crazy one. Your off the hook. Your plants will love you even more. When we talk we release carbon dioxide and plants thrive on that for photosynthesis. Have a nice evening.

Ann Carr Thank you for sharing your animal stories. I love other people's pets. I can pat them and visit and leave them until next time. No cleanup or vet bills. I think people who love animals are special people. They have such a big heart. I am heading outside in the snow. Have a great afternoon. Thanks again.

Brenda Arledge I guess I better get my hearing checked. Our cat Charlotte barely meows. I will have to listen closely. We have real plants our cat will climb into until we scoot her out. They get trimmed daily. We tried growing fresh catnip. I think it made Charlotte sick. What plants do you have? Any suggestions? Have you tried catnip? We love our Charlotte. We want to make her happy as well as keep her safe. We make sure we have no poisonous plants in the house. She has plenty of toys. She has to be in the mood. Thank you so much for reading and caring. Have a good and fun day.

Forgot to say also that yes, plants thrive if you talk to them, and I talk to mine a lot in the garden - but not in the house, or I'll be labelled barmy!

I had dogs and cats, a budgie and a hamster. I prefer dogs overall but they all have their good points. The budgie was hilarious, got all his rhymes mixed up and used to play fetch with a pencil which had a metal loop at the end and he'd throw it off the windowsill and yell until we picked it up and put it back and he'd chuck it off again, etc, etc....

Dogs are the best to talk to because their heads tilt as though they understand it all!

Enjoy your day/evening!

Awe..all kitty cats talk.

Just listen...you can hear his words going across your head.

Plus sometimes...they actually meow.

Cute one...mine seem to like real live plants and things that sparkle or light up.

Ann Carr I heard if you talk to plants they grow better. So you get to speak your mind and your plants benefit too. Did you had any pets when you were younger? My mom and dad had dogs with my older brothers, not me. They were done with pets. Only later when I was older I had a cat. Then cats ever since. I talk to objects too. Now that makes me even wackier than before. Life is full of surprises. You have to take the good with the bad. Luckily there is much more good than bad. There is never a dull moment. Thank you for sharing. I think your husband might be more like my wife. They hear us when we talk and they can tune us out at the same time. Have a great afternoon. Our cat Charlotte keeps us distracted from all the problems of life. We don't have any children so someone has to keep us on edge. Why not our Charlotte. She is the good, bad and the ugly all rolled into one.(lol)

Talking to a cat is better than talking to objects, which I do sometimes! I don't have a pet so something has to suffer, other than my partner.

Cats do have a will of their own, don't they? I think they usually have the upper hand whatever we do.

Great prose poetry that made me smile.
