The Courthouse Clock Chimes and Time Slips Away

Most of my poems are from what can best be described as my "Blue Period", aka "The Dark Year of the Restless Soul".

The Courthouse Clock

The courthouse clock chimes

Another hour away

So stately and silent

Yet so much to say

It chimes to remind us

Time's slipping away

And when we're not careful

We've wasted one day

Each moment we pass up

Each hour we stray

Takes us much closer

To the end of our days

It peals to the poets

To the poor and the proud

To the restless and righteous

It rings just as loud

So it's in with the new

And out with the old

No matter the mortal

The clock takes its' toll
