The Cell Phone Craze: A Satiric Poem
Invention of a cell phone beats one of a car
for we would switch back to horse and cart
agree to go on foot doesn't matter how far
but from our cell phone we would not part.
It doesn't take a shrink to call it surrogate friend
or maybe a parent, a teacher, or whoever
and it has become such a crazy trend
not making us look very clever.
Those incessant monologs sounding a big deal
on sidewalks, in stores, restrooms, and bars
and selfies taken with a narcissistic zeal
not to mention that texting in the cars.
My special treat is watching those cyber fights
as idiots get oblivious of all people around
one of those truly irreplaceable sights
to watch and hear how they sound.
And yet, not so many things I'd mock rather
then two people sitting at the same table
and having chat by texting each other
that's what I call socially disabled.
Protests about privacy are my laughing stock
as you don't need to tap anybody's phone
just follow the cell-freak around the block
and you will know all that is going on.
