The Celestial Circus: A Poem

“The greatest show on Earth,”
And it isn’t even that good,
Yet we keep performing
Dancing in circles
Around
And around
And around
Until it’s over
And the curtain drops
And it’s time to take our bow
And go home
And we hope,
If we’re lucky,
That we’ll be recast for another performance.
Another role;
Another night
Over
And over
And over
The role may be similar
Or completely different from the last
But we don’t care
As long as we’re invited back
But it’s still the same tired old shit show
Again
And again
And again,
Night
After night
After night,
And yet,
We keep coming back
Because it is still better than the alternative.

Yep, your poem tells it like it is. Good job.
