The Blindfold

Reading is a series of human emotions. Writing is the gift of sharing these emotions.

the-blindfold

I feel blindfolded;
Covered in darkness,
Drowning in fear.
I believe in God,
But sometimes I don't believe in myself.
More than trials,
More than people,
More than anything,
I'm scared of myself;
Of what I can do
And what I cannot do.

Could I defeat myself from finding ways?
But then I think I found a way;
Bodies of water summon my mind and my soul.
What's left that's half awake is my heart,
And the three drops of heaven
That remove my blindfold.
I drown everyday
In the absence of light,
And always come back in the presence of my little ones.

For how long?
It pains me to know
When my strength is my weakness.
If I succumb to the blindfold
And follow the sound of waves,
Please pray for my soul,
Save my angels from the hurt;
From the memories.
Protect them from life's constant battles.
Turn them away from the blindfold.

You paint with your words, a very real struggle which not many can express. Good poetry!

So sad. It is painful when dealing with lifes struggles and protecting the little ones.

Yes its easy to fear you might make a wrong turn even when you are aware that path may not be the right choice for you.

Such an emotional and evocative poem Shey which perfectly describes the many fears we have to deal with and how it can become a constant battle.
