That's My Voice

Do you hear the mighty river flowing?
That’s my voice, that’s my voice
*
Do you hear the fierce wind blowing?
That’s my voice, that’s my voice.
*
Do you hear the wings of an eagle
Cutting through the night sky?
Or the pounding of the wolf’s paw
On the hardened ground?
*
That’s my voice, that’s my voice.
*
Speak gently
With razor-sharp tongue.
*
Strength in voice
Is always the calm
Holding back the beast.
*
Quiet I am…
Silent I’m not!
*
So if you hear the river flowing
The fierce wind blowing
The eagle’s wing in the night sky
The wolf’s paw on hardened ground,
Always remember...
*
That’s my voice, that’s my voice.

Lovely poem, Dean.
Doris James MizBejabbers from Beautiful South on July 09, 2019:
I really like this piece. I am not a great fan of poetry, but this one speaks to me. It sounds so native, so spiritual. There is truth inside.
Louise Powles from Norfolk, England on July 08, 2019:
I love the words to this. I particularly like the line 'quiet I am...silent I'm not!' Very true!
