The first piece is placed on your jigsaw board,
as the blueprint of your life has begun.
More will be added as life is explored.
As your jigsaw is built up, one by one.
Some pieces are remembered with fondness.
While each one, lets its story unfold.
Some are darker and tinged with more sadness.
But they are all interlinked in one mould.
When you think that the jigsaw is finished.
And the picture of your life is now whole.
Motivation will then be diminished.
So go back out there, and set a new goal.
Goals are what give your life purpose and drive.
In the search for where that last piece is hid.
I think the last piece will only arrive,
when they are starting to screw down the lid.

Wonderfully said ....life is a blueprint of sorts. Each piece makes up our lives.
I think it is what you do with life that counts, trying to make a difference or finding your purpose.
Loved the cute ending!

Jodah, Lora, and Lorna. Thank you for your comments.
That warm glow of pride you feel,
when you reach another goal.
To know its been appreciated,
makes it all worthwhile.

Such a wonderful way to to highlight our journey through life. Beautifully written, thought provoking and clever.
Lora Hollings on August 18, 2019:
Very nice poem, Drylen! I really enjoyed your comparison of life to a puzzle. We do need to keep setting goals and try to accomplish them and complete the puzzle we started. In the process, we also may find that our lives create a finished work whether it be a puzzle, a story, or a picture of some kind. Thanks for sharing.
