Need For Speed!

In this well-known, original song, the singer obviously can’t do 55. However, evident in my own lyrics below, I can (and need to!) drive 85’ in order to escape the killer bees that are constantly after me!

It seems that whenever I pull out of my driveway, I just happen to ram into their beehive just behind me... Naturally, these killer bees become furious; thus, I become their “bullseye” that they chase after at top speed. This is why I can (and need to!) drive 85!

I Can’t Drive 55! - Instrumentals - Sammy Hagar

Need For Speed!

My foot seems to have a mind of its own, hey!

Well, I see ya checkin’ out my chrome, ya!

Still, it ain’t wise to gravitate near

I reckon y’all wanna be close, shoutin’ those cheers again!

Gonna still do my normal 85!

This is what’s keepin’ me, here, alive

I’m out-runnin’ that bee-hive

I can drive 85! Oh ya!

Oh!

Ya, I whined to the cop, station 31, hey

If those bees catch me, then I’m done...

Start diggin’ my grave since they are nearly here

Why won’t you let me just drive in fourth gear?

He said, “Well! Oh, well!

Then, just do your normal 85

This is what’s keepin’ you here alive

You’re out-runnin’ that bee-hive

You can drive 85!

Oh, well!”

I can drive 85!

I can drive 85!

Oh!

I like to drive fast, ya know, to flee those bees

While I’m at it, I need to drive away fleas

Now I’m free from those killer bees and black fleas. Ugh!

The cops now keepin’ insects’ doom away from me

Gonna still do my normal 85

This is what’s keepin’ me, here, alive

I’m out-runnin’ that bee-hive

I can drive 85!

Ya! Ya! Ya!

I can drive 85!

I can drive 85!

~

Robert,

Very good idea! These allergies can be life-threatening.

Robert Sacchi on March 15, 2018:

If someone is allergic to bee or hornet stings they should let someone else take care of the nest.

Robert,

Oh, I see! I didn’t realize they had spray for them. Some people are dangerously allergic to bee stings.

Robert Sacchi on March 14, 2018:

They have hornet spray. Maybe someone knows a better method to deal with them.

BBYCGN (author) from Uninhabited Regions on March 14, 2018:

Robert, that sounds frightening to come upon a hornets nest! I’m not even sure how to destroy them, other than driving past them.

Robert Sacchi on March 12, 2018:

Had an interesting encounter with hornets a while back. There was a large hornets next attached to the back of my house. I had only seen one that size in nature documentaries. I did destroy the next and only got one sting.

BBYCGN (author) from Uninhabited Regions on March 12, 2018:

Ha ha, Robert... yes, gotta stay away from those killer bees!

Robert Sacchi on March 11, 2018:

Another clever poem. A poem about driving away from killer bees. That's an original excuse to give to the police officer for driving 30mph over the speed limit.
