Talk, Don't Spit

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

Spit Talk

Spit Talk

Talk, don't spit

My face is not something you should share your saliva with

I really don’t mind listening to your words

But the spit rolls off your tongue and flies like a bird

I just can’t manage when you have to say words that begin or end with an S

If I am at least six feet away my face will still become a saliva fortress

I have to be dodging, bobbing and weave

This much spit from a conversation is hard to believe

Whenever we meet i have to be sure to have a few wipes nearby

Else my face would have probably been infected and destroyed my eyes

I know you also have sinusitis which causes your breath to stink

Maybe you need a spit shield. Don't you think?

Take this, I bought this hanky for you

I guess you get the gist and know what to do

I really don’t want any fluids from your body unto mine

So I bought this mask to use when it is talk time

Don’t be insulted, don’t cry, I don’t mean anything bad really

It is just that my neck hurts and cannot manage moving so swiftly

No. Don’t say that, I really want us to be friends

But please, talk don’t spit. It’s time for your mouth to make amends.
