There Are So Many Choices

You can watch a cooking show after cooking show

You have to know

A lot what you see

Is not good for you

Temptation is everywhere

As soon as you walk out your door

Duncan Donuts on every corner

Fried food at every fast food joint

Give me a good crisp delicious apple to eat

I will cut it up and take small bites

At 2.99 for a bag of 15

That is 20 cents for every apple

We have to battle every day

A classic story we have heard for generations

If we don't think about it

We just buy the latest snack on the shelf

From potato chips to popcorn

This is a big problem

A cookie isle a mile long

The candy shelves filled with chocolate

I walk away from the dollar store snacks

I lose out

I miss all the beautiful tastes

I am totally missing my sugar and salt high

What is good for me

Is not the markdown pastry

What a deal at 50% off at the discount rack

The only fruit I see discounted that way

Are bananas that are way overripe

Peaches and oranges almost rotten

Sheer disappointment

That stuff is horrible

I want the wow factor

You never see a free fruit sample

Only cookies and pastry puffs

That tease and make you weak

Let's kick off our day

With an apple a day

We have heard it years ago

Why not go back to the way it was

When so many things have changed

Somethings need not be different

Don't stop there

Go all in

Inspire good eating

Pick up the cucumbers and actually take a couple

Walk to the red peppers and try to hold three

Fill up a bag of fresh string beans like they are the last on earth

Where are the tomatoes and lettuce for a salad ?

I will have a celery stalk too

I have to kick this to a new level

Reaching over to lift the biggest watermelon I can lift

Sweet Clementines what a find

I am setting a good example

I am going home

With all healthy choices and a better life

I am used to hearing all the negative

Isn't it time we show our children what to do

Goodbye to the Great American Cake Challenge

Hello fruit and vegetables

I am back again

To eat, eat and eat

Where nobody has to yell

Stop! Stop! Please Stop!

Gypsy Rose Lee Fresh food can be more enjoyable and more nutritious. Canned food has a lot of added ingredients like salt that aren't always good for us. Sometimes it is our only option. Then again there might be a local market down the street that has some great buys. That will not only go farther on a tight budget but be so much healthier for you. I do things that I have done for a lot of years. At one time I could eat a whole pound of plain bologna in the afternoon when I got hungry. It was only 1.99 a pound and it filled me up and held me over to my next meal. I write down what I eat so I will know if I am eating healthier than before. Thank you so much for reading and sharing. Devika Primic You are so right. Finding other surroundings that are good for me and will be best for me not just now but years later in the future. If we don't go to Duncan Donuts we don't have the opportunity to buy donuts. They don't tease us only to please us. Once and awhile it doesn't hurt. Once a week like some people are not a good idea. You know all I really want for myself is just to have something to fill my belly. At least at this moment and stocking up for me means 12 cans of this and that so I can just pop open a can, heat up the contents, and get something to eat.

Anything that is tempting to you can be avoided. When it is there you want it and when you have self-discipline you do not look in that direction.
