Take the High Road

Take the High Road ( John Hansen’s Challenge - How to Construct a Short Story/Poem using One Sentence as a Prompt)

I am a novice writer and I do not know if I can even call myself one. However, I believe there is no harm in taking up the challenge. After all, it is by trying and trying that we will be able to improve.

"Never feel shame for trying and failing for he who has never failed is he who has never tried."

Og Mandino, The Greatest Salesman in the World

Never judge people by their appearance, race, and status

Feel and consider how it is to live to be conscious,

Shamed and debased that he has learned to become so cautious

For fear that others will be more callous and obnoxious

Trying so hard to stay low and be inconspicuous

And change to "become one of them" that it is so obvious

Failing to fit in the so-called "standards" can be serious

For the pressure to be accepted can be tremendous

He just prays that tolerance will not be the consensus

Who would want to live in a society where acceptance

Has been denied because you're different is atrocious

Never let others opinion of you dim your focus

Failed attempt to belittle you will make you tenacious

Is it your fault that their thoughts about you are ludicrous?

He will not be pretentious but will be magnanimous

Whoever spread hatred and indifference is vicious

Never walked their path even though the task is mountainous

Tried as they might, they'll fail, for goodness is ubiquitous.

Harriet, this is a lovely share

Yes, as human nature, it is important to get accepted by others

but even if we don't get it we should not belittle ourselves

As God has a reward for everything. We are not here in the world to please others always (we should do, but not as a priority)

We should try to please and praise our creator as He has promised. He will give us what we want if we obey Him

Don't let anybody rule you. Worst are those who don't accept others' appearance. They have forgotten the artist, the creator, is the same.

You did a brilliant job on John's challenge and I enjoyed it

Blessings to you dear
