Summers Of My Youth

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

summer-of-my-youth

Summers of my youth,
spent beneath the shining sun.
feet upon golden sand,
building sandcastle dreams,
picking wildflowers in meadows,
while chasing butterflies.
Summers of my youth,
carefree just drifting along.
rising with the sun,
joining birds in song.
Happy days,
as while clouds drifted by,
so many reasons to sigh,
on days when rains came.
barefoot out the door,
splashing in mud puddles,
as the rainbow arched across the sky.
Happy days with fond memories,
that ended in great surprise,
with the first autumn breezes,
frist few falling leaves,
me being dragged,
kicking and screaming -
into the autumn season.

You have perfectly captured the days of summer when we were young and out of school. Those days seemed endless until we would start getting ready to go back to school. I always did enjoy the fall colors.
