Summer Moon Song

Author:

There's nothing better to see, than that full moon in the sky,

watching moon shadows, all spread across the yard, I spy.

As I'm hearing the whippoorwill's song, to the night, belongs,

chasing away the chill, of that old darkness, I feel, as it does fly.

Refrain:

Big old Summer moon, up in the sky, the first of July,

As I'm Sitting on my front porch in the swing.

Honey Suckle's sweet scents, lingering on the vine,

A touch of magnolia and jasmine, oh, so fine.

The crickets and rain frogs, all cry, singing their sweet lullaby,

As the night's strange sounds, soon all do cease, by and by.

Precious memories now return to the past, in my mind to last,

Time of romance, life's incessant dance, I can't shake them, if I try.

Refrain:

Big old Summer Moon, up in the sky, the first of July,

As I'm sitting on my front porch in the swing.

Honey suckle's sweet scents, lingering on the vine,

A touch of Magnolia and Jasmine, oh, so fine.

As that old moon Does wink at me, I'm as sleepy as I can be,

Getting ready to say my farewell and all my thoughts to free.

There will be another moon, one night real soon, that I'll see,

As I turn to go away, That old moon seems to say, you'll miss me.

Refrain:

Big old Summer moon, up in the sky, the first of July,

As I'm sitting on my front porch in the swing.

Honeysuckle's sweet scents, lingering on the vine,

A touch of Magnolia and Jasmine, oh, so fine.

There can never be a time, that feels so right in rhyme,

As when I'm writing a tune about the moon, sublime.

Please come take a trip with me, you'll love so genuinely,

In reading lines, no better way to spend your time.

and when that big old Summer moon's up in the sky.
