Sugarcoating Crap of Life: A Satirical Poem with Food for Thought
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
You can believe in whatsoever you like, but the truth remains truth, no matter how sweet the lie may taste.
-- Michael Bassey Johnson
For a good part of life we are in fight
combining it with some swift retreats
all that merely to keep our affairs right
and to win a little between two defeats.
In words of Mary Poppins, sweet player in the story
"With spoonful of sugar the medicine goes down"
so escaping into illusions keeps us out of worry
while oftentimes we laugh -- just not to frown.
While hoarding possessions and mastering pretense
we may go through life like through a dreamy nap
and even if it makes only some temporary sense
we dump so much sugar on all neglected crap.
Whether it's dope, or sex, or good old booze
we always seek line of the least resistance
with nerves dulled we think we can't lose
and if it fails, we get shrink's assistance.
And thus through all many years we may go
not willing to face what might need a repair
reaping in our life whatever we might sow
sweetening crap, pretending not to care.
